Description
For our 18th Plein Air Painting, Robin MacBlane and I went looking for a place near Lake City, Florida, that (according to Google Maps) has Florida's tallest natural waterfall. It looked to be maybe four feet tall in the photograph. We drove to the location and I'm not sure if we found the area or not because when we got to a park that I THINK was the location there was a big sign that said "NO ...DOGS." So, we drove to find another place to paint. I ended up heading north on 441 and before long we saw the sign that said, "Welcome! We're Glad Georgia's On Your Mind." We ended up painting in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. It cost five dollars to enter. I asked the man who took the money if there was a pretty spot where we could paint a picture and he replied, "I don't think I'm the person to ask." So I thanked him and we set up our easels near some picnic tables. As we were getting close to being done with our painting another man came by to check them out and said, "Them is some mighty fine drawings. Almost like a Polaroid." Anyway, our 18th Plein Air Painting is our first one done outside of Florida.
