Description

This is Plein Air Painting number 41 since beginning the Plein Air Florida project with my partner, Robin MacBlane. (She actually has 42! She painted my back yard!) We visited Tomoka State Park in Ormond Beach, Florida for this painting field trip. It was a beautiful day and the park turned out to be another one of Florida's hidden treasures. The fact that the entrance to the park is also the entrance to one of the world's most famous beaches probably has led to millions of people passing this treasure in order to see her more popular sister! We visited Tomoka on Saturday, August 11, 2012. The day was beautiful. A little hot and we definitely made every effort to find shade while we painted. Our friend, Doug Smith, came along. He is now well on his way to his own gallery of plein air landscapes. And, of course, my dog, Hu, came along. After our visit to Tomoka we drove over to the beach and enjoyed a little bit of "memory lane" as Ormond and Daytona had been frequently visited by us during our younger years.
